Alcohol and Substance Abuse Treatment
Substance abuse disorders affect many individuals and their families. In fact, a 2006 survey by the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration found that 75% of Americans report they have been affected by addiction--their own or that of a family member, friend, or coworker.
There's good news. Professional, cost-effective treatment for substance use disorders is available. Weems offers treatment programs that address a variety of substance abuse problemsfrom those that are just beginning to cause problems in an individual's life to dependence and addiction.
Commonly abused substances include alcohol, marijuana, cocaine and crack, methamphetamines, other illegal drugs, prescription pain killers and other medications. Our programs incorporate the 12-step program and are certified by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health.
Our services include:
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): ten-week structured program for problems that are not so severe as to require residential treatment; consists of three group meetings per week for 10 consecutive weeks after business hours, which allows participants to keep their regular work schedule in most cases. Individual counseling is also an important part of IOP.
- Weems LifeCare: 30-day residential treatment program for the more severe substance abuse issues. LifeCare is a 36-bed residential program located behind the Weems Main Center at 1415 College Drive. LifeCare treats men and women ages 18 and older.
- Extended treatment beyond the initial 30-day inpatient program that allows individuals to work during the day. Clients can stay up to 60 days in the three-quarterway program.
- DUI Assessment and DUI Program: state-approved program for individuals who have lost their driver's license due to a second DUI conviction. Upon completing the program, individuals may be eligible for re-instatement of the drivers license one year earlier than otherwise.
- Substance Abuse Professional: Weems has a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) on staff to provide U.S. Dept. of Transportation assessments and oversight following a referral for a positive drug or alcohol screen for an employee is a DOT-regulated safety-sensitive position. Weems is also able to provide education and treatment programs for DOT referrals.
- Weems LifeCare and other substance use disorder treatment programs are open to individuals from any area, but priority is given to individuals residing in the nine counties that make up Region Ten of the Mississippi Community Mental Health system. Those counties are: Clarke, Jasper, Kemper, Lauderdale, Leake, Neshoba, Newton, Scott and Smith.
